Did you know that all volunteers who help in our schools are supposed to be fingerprinted and background checked? The district offers free fingerprinting and background checks to those who want to help in our schools.

If you want to chaperone a field trip, help with the book fair, read with first graders, help with class parties, and more, come get it done!

I encourage you to get this done sooner than later. It can take up to 6 weeks for the entire process, so start now.

Schedule your fingerprinting appointment here.

(This is not a NEW background check. If you have already had yours done, you don’t need to come again.)

An accident on northbound I-15 in the Lindon area has caused significant delays on the freeway and artery roads.

This road closure will impact busing throughout the district. We anticipate bus delays at multiple schools, including activity buses.

All routes will be completed, but it is unknown how long this will take.

OTTERFEST - September 26th

September is in full swing, and that means it's time to get ready for OTTERFEST! Otterfest is our annual fall festival, and it serves as the PTA's biggest fundraiser of the year. Proceeds from Otterfest are designated for the classroom grants we offer to all our teachers at Riverview. Any additional funds raised will be used for teacher appreciation and other clubs, such as the school musical or robotics.

Otterfest is made up of many different booths with games, treats, and activities available for purchase. Everything is purchased with tickets, which you can buy next week during our online presale (Sept. 15–19) or on the night of. We highly suggest utilizing the presale to avoid long lines at the ticket booth on the night of.

A lot of work goes into making Otterfest a fun event that brings our community together. Each year, we need as many volunteers as possible to help run our booths and activities. Please consider signing up to volunteer for a shift while your students enjoy the night. If you aren't able to attend, you can also support the event by lending equipment. This year, we will need to borrow a few pop-up tents, tables, coolers, and work lights.

We hope to see you all on the big night. Thank you so much for being a part of our Riverview community!

Riverview Community Care Donors List

Each year we have a number of students and families that experience challenging times and unforeseen hardships. During these times of need, our Riverview community has always been so willing to support.

To increase our support and communication we would like to create a list of potential donors from our community that we can quickly reach out to if a need arises in our school community. As needs arise, we will contact prospective donors on this list in private and see if they are in a position to help.

Filling out this form does not lock you into a donation. It just means that you would like to be contacted in the event that a student or family is in need. Most likely, we would send you an email, with a simple description of the donation needed. If you are interested in donating to that cause, you would simply email.

To protect the privacy of all students and families, all donations will be anonymous. School administrators and our counselor would work with potential donors to make all the arrangements needed.

If you are interested in joining our Riverview Community Care Donors list, please fill out the Link above.

Thank you

Hello Riverview Parents!

Auditions for the school musical start Monday. All sign-ups and information can be found HERE.

A NOTE FOR STAGE CREW: Due to the limited space we have backstage, we need to put a cap on the number of stage crew kids this year. Acceptance for stage crew will be first-come, first-served. Everyone who has registered so far has been accepted, but we will close registration once we reach 12 students. After that, if your child still wishes to be in the play, they will need to register as an actor.

A NOTE FOR ACTORS: All actors will be accepted into the play, but they must be registered by August 29th. If you have any issues with registration or conflicts with auditions, please contact the director, Julie Lloyd, at riverviewmusicals@gmail.com before August 29th. After the 29th, registration for all acting roles will close, and no late requests will be accepted.

Riverview,

We would like to bring to your attention a new Alpine School District Policy regarding electronic communication devices at school.

The policy can be found using this link. Policy No. 5250. As per policy 5250, students are prohibited from having electronic devices out during school hours without special permission.

Definition of Electronic Communication Device:
1.1 “Electronic communication device” means a non school-issued electronic device, including but not limited to a cell phone, tablet, smartwatch, earbuds, or other portable device, that can be used for entertainment or communication, regardless of whether or not such device is connected to a network. Fitness trackers which receive notifications but are incapable of responding to notifications are not electronic communication devices.

3.3 Framework for Elementary Schools:
3.3.1 Electronic communication devices, except as otherwise described in this policy, shall remain in each student’s backpack from bell to bell and shall not be seen or heard. Fitness trackers shall be set so that notifications are not received.
3.3.2 If a student needs to communicate with their parent/guardian during the school day, they may use their electronic communication device either in the front office or counseling office, with permission. Permission will be limited to urgent or crisis situations and will not allow for routine or non-urgent situations.
3.3.3 Electronic communication devices may not be used while using a hall pass, except when used in the front office or counseling office.

If your student is found in possession of an electronic device not in their backpack during the school day. The student will be asked by a staff member to place the device in a paper envelope. The student will then put the envelope into their backpack. The student's teacher will then notify the student’s guardians via email or phone that the student had violated the Electronic Device Policy and got a warning. If a student repeatedly violates the Electronic Policy, then School Administration will set up a meeting with that family and discuss additional actions as needed.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: As the new school year begins, please be aware that there will be a lot of additional traffic around our school properties, especially during drop-off and pick-up times. This will be particularly noticeable during the first few weeks of school as we welcome students and as families settle into routines. Please be extremely patient, and remember to put the safety of all students first.
